Employers should keep their staff working from home into June despite lockdown restrictions beginning to ease in March, new Government guidance has said.

Bosses have been told to let workers remain at home ‘wherever possible’ until at least June 21. All the Government’s limits on social contact are set to be removed by the date, at the earliest.

It is thought nightclubs could then also reopen on June 21, more than a year after they first closed in March 2020. Outdoor hospitality venues, such as pubs and restaurants, should reopen on April 12.

The Government’s ‘stay at home’ order will be removed on March 29, but will be be swiftly replaced by new advice to ‘stay local’.

‘We will reopen everything up to and including nightclubs, and enable large events such as theatre performances above the limits of step three – potentially using testing to reduce the risk of infection.’

He continued: ‘Our journey back towards normality will be subject to resolving a number of key questions and to do this we will conduct four reviews.

‘One will assess how long we need to maintain social distancing and face masks. This will also inform guidance on working from home which should continue wherever possible until this review is complete.’
