TV personality Maria Menounos’ mother Litsa Menounos dies of brain cancer

TV personality Maria Menounos is mourning the loss of her mother Litsa Menounos.

Maria shared the sad news that Litsa died from Stage 4 brain cancer after a four-year battle with the disease.

“RIP mom. God loved her so much he took her on greek easter,” Menounos wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of them together on Instagram.

“Christ is risen mom,” she also wrote in Greek.

Several celebrities like Nikki Bella, Zoe Saldana and Ali Laundry sent their condolences in the comments section of the post.

Maria previously shared on her YouTube show, Better Together, that she’d brought her parents back to Connecticut after they’d spent more than a year living in LA. Watch the video above.

“You made her dream come true,” Maria told her friend, Ed Mylett, who offered his private plane, in the episode. “She’s been so dying to come home. It’s been over a year and a half, and she flew home so comfortably.”

The news came after it was discovered her parents had both tested positive for COVID-19 as her mother’s tumour was growing.

Last September, the TV personality honoured her mother in an emotional post for her birthday.

“In my darkest moments fear never let me see this day possible,” she captioned the Instagram post. “Faith however would whisper in my ear. I am moved and inspired by your fearlessness and calm throughout this journey.

“Mom I love you more than words can express. I will fight for you and with you everyday. I pray god gives us many more years so you can see your dream of grandchildren come true. Happy birthday, to many more.”

In 2017, Maria underwent an eight-hour surgery to remove a brain tumour, at the same time her mother was battling Stage 4 brain cancer.
