That includes Chadwick’s longtime friend and Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan, who recently got candid about their relationship and the grief he felt after losing him.

“Our relationship was a very personal one and had a lot of great moments — some that I couldn’t fully appreciate and fully understand until now. I wish I had more time to have our relationship evolve, and grow, and become closer and stronger,” Michael told Vanity Fair.

He went on to commend Chadwick for what he accomplished in his life, saying, “We got a concentrated dose of Chadwick. He did more in his 43 years of life than most people have done in a lifetime.”

“And losing him was…Yeah, man, it hurt. It hurt a lot. That’s probably what made me cry the most this year,” Michael candidly admitted.

Michael also reflected on Chadwick’s decision to keep his battle private, which he says spoke volumes about his work ethic and the people around him.

“His family and his wife are so strong. The people that he had around him are truly special people. To keep something like this quiet for so long — our town is nearly impossible to do something like that in. It speaks to the type of person he was, to work as hard as he did into his last moments. It’s truly incredible,” Michael explained.

“He’s an incredible person,” Michael shared.

Michael paid tribute to Chadwick after his passing last year in a touching post that looked back on their friendship.

“You paved the way for me. You showed me how to be better, honor purpose, and create legacy. And whether you’ve known it or not…I’ve been watching, learning and constantly motivated by your greatness. I’m gonna miss your honesty, your generosity, your sense of humor, and incredible gifts. I’ll miss the gift of sharing space with you in scenes. I’m dedicating the rest of my days to live the way you did. With grace, courage, and no regrets,” Michael wrote.

“‘Is this your king?!’ Yes. He. Is! Rest In Power, Brother.”
